This spring, classrooms across Florida participated in the first statewide Cemex Florida Earth Day Art Contest. Using recycled material, students created artwork depicting a pollinator interacting with a flower, while learning about the importance of recycling and keeping ecosystems in balance.
The contest closed on April 2nd and Cemex Florida congratulated all participants. An expert panel selected three winners for their especially creative submissions:
First Place:
Mrs. Hains’ 5th grade class from Minneola Charter School in Lake County and the winner of a $500 Gift Card for her classroom.
Second Place:
Mrs. Skaggs’ 7th grade Earth Science Class from Wildwood Middle High in Sumter County and the winner of a $250 Gift Card for her classroom.
Third Place:
Mrs. Chimera’s Art Class at Trinity Delray from Delray Beach in Palm Beach County and the winner of a $150 Gift Card for her classroom.
CEMEX Florida offered special congratulations to the contest winners and thanked the participating teachers and students for their hard work and creativity.
